Well we all survived Portland Snowpocalypse 2017. We are happy to report that we are open and ready to assit with all of your insurance needs - especially any weather-related claims. Here are a couple of pictures from the office taken by a few intrepid employees who faced the 10+ inches of snow to open the office and make sure those of us working from home could connect. Special thanks to Shelly Kidman and Julie Dunne for the photographs and help with IT matters.
We are pleased to have been included in The Portland Business Journal's list of Top Metro-Area Commercial Insurance Agencies. In celebration of this honor, we have unveiled our newest EPBB print advertisement celebrating 70 years of service in the great Northwest!! Way to go Team EPB&B! Here's to another 70 years !!
One of the original EPBB Founding Partners, Gordon Powell, passed away on Saturday, June 18th in Portland, Oregon. Gordon joined Warren Elliott at the firm of Elliott & Associates in the 1950’s. Later in 1968 they were joined by Bill Baden and Neil Baker to form what is now Elliott, Powell, Baden & Baker. Gordon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Colleen Powell; daughters Pamela Sutherland, Paige Powell, Robin Powell and Heidi Powell as well as many grandchildren. Gordon was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Oregon State University. He served four years in the US Army during World War II in the China Burma theatre of operations. Gordon was a passionate golfer and member of Portland Golf Club. He retired in 1984 and moved to Gearhart where he and Colleen enjoyed walking on the beach and watching the sunsets. He will be missed by everyone at EPB&B. No service will be held, however, remembrances may be made to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter, Pixie Project or Father Nick Transportation Fund at Our Lady of Victory Church in Seaside, Oregon.
Congratulations to our own Marc Baker who will join the ranks of other Oregon greats such as Everclear, The Kingsmen, Quarterflash, Dan Reed Network, Robert Cray, Crazy 8's and others. Marc will be inducted on Saturday, October 10th at The Aladdin Theater in Portland. The event will honor 9 Oregonians who significantly influenced the world of music. Award for Artist of the Year will be presented Storm Large and Album of the Year will go to The Delines. The event is also a benefit for music education in Oregon. To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, an artist must have been born in Oregon and worked professionally in the music industry for at least 20 years.
The Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) rocked the Aladdin Theater during Saturday night's Eighth Annual Induction Cermony. Proceeds from the event went to help fund music education in Oregon. Performances by Nu Shooz, Norman Sylvester and Dr. Demento capped off the night of celebration.
